NYFW AW19: Longchamp

LONGCHAMP jet off to NYFW as they celebrate the contemporary woman of today with their AW19 collection. Taking place on the ground floor of a skyscraper in downtown Manhattan‚ the backdrop of the catwalk captures the beauty of this sparkling metropolis. This stellar show attracted an equally star-filled front with actress and fashion darling Emma Roberts nestled among supermodels like Kendall Jenner and the legendary Kate Moss.

As for the collection itself, the label’s creative director Sophie Delafontaine has created pieces inspired by the modern Longchamp woman: elegant, practical and stylish.

A foundation palette of classic white and black is gently infiltrated by autumnal shades of ochre, rust, olive and plum. Bold reds and animal print later adorn pieces giving a distinctly ethnic feel inspired by nature. Leather fringing paired with bold patterns and prints dominates the runway. Depth materialises in the addition of shearling accents on jackets and skirts, paired with sheer cream shirts and feminine silhouettes to give light and shade.

Belted maxi skirts worn with collared shirts were joined by thick studded belts of brown and black leather. The tough material later appeared softened by elegant pleats in shorter skirts and dresses, a wonderful juxtaposition to the prairie style ankle length pieces, giving the collection an attractive visual tempo.

As for accessories, Longchamp’s new La Votageuse handbag touched down on the runway to much excitement. Accompanying this, the iconic Le Pilage bag appeared in new smaller sizes, colours and textures complimenting the palette of the collection. Boots were either black in colour and elegantly cut to the ankle or flamboyantly knee length and fabricated out of red animal print.

Longchamp have created a collection that is effortlessly wearable yet still elegant and fashion-forward in its design. Crafted with the modern woman in mind, Longchamp brings French flair to New York. Allons-y!
