MFW AW17: Fendi

UNDER the creative leadership of Karl Lagerfeld, a Fendi collection can go in many directions – never boring – but always sets you thinking.

The Fendi AW17 shows the inimitable power of Lagerfeld and accessories designer Silvia Venturini Fendi when they focus on provenance and craftsmanship. This collection is far from quiet but channels the brand’s heritage (the notes stated the collection harkens back to 1925—the founding of the fashion house) and its core tailoring, only with a modern twist. It is a highly cohesive collection with a number of memorable, stunning looks as a result.

The show began with a gray herringbone double-breasted coat with mink cuffs, worn with a Prince of Wales midi dress with red boots and a Fendi “Lady” bag held on a double-F logo strap.

Moving forward, the looks were heritage inspired but elegant and cool, showing off the tailoring abilities of the Fendi team with midi-length dresses, knife-pleated midi skirts, an oversized sweater and a tweed pant here and there.

But the real standouts were the coats, many which were accented by mink cuffs. Whether the chic black leather raincoat worn by Imaan Hammam, the red wool one worn by Kendall Jenner or the amazing cropped intarsia fur worn by Sohyun Jung, which included a cut-out of a ‘70s style double-F logo.
