WHEN it comes to the catwalks, one thing we can unanimously agree on is that diversity is always great to see, and at Oliver Spencer, this sentiment was strongly expressed. Distinguished-looking men of all races and ages walked the runway, presenting contemporary fashion from one of the most wearable brands showing at LFWM.
Inspired by London, the show Love Town sought to pay homage to the “proud, tough and loving place” that is the English capital city. With the recent tragic events that have taken place here, it feels more apt than ever.
The clothes were sharp and sartorially aware, yet imbued with a casual elegance perfect for summer. Warm pink, cool blue, deep umber and ecru provided the palette of the collection, light and fresh to the eye.
A supple pink suede jacket was a particular highlight, paired with matching pink cotton trousers. Key investments pieces such as an inky black leather bomber are ideal for building a wardrobe around. Pale blue denim gave year round appeal to the collection, whilst mismatched suiting kept the mood firmly in party mode, helped by the thumping 70s electro soundtrack.
At the end of the show the models took one final walk, each wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with the words Love Town. It was a poignant moment as they collected at the entrance to clap the designer making his bow, and solidifies what everybody already knows about London – we are stronger together.
