Céline Pre-Fall 2017 collection

PHOEBE Philo wasn’t in attendance at her Céline Pre-Fall 2017 collection at the brands headquarters at the Rue Vivienne in Paris. Why Philo chose the colours and materials she did we won’t know. The designer allowed her latest collection to ultimately do all the speaking. The collection is a vision we wanted to see and how we all wished we looked like for the autumn weather.

Appropriate fall colours were used such as white, black, beige and grey. However, the few pieces which feature the warm colours of red, pink and blue gave the collection a healthy glow about it, making it sophisticated and beautiful.

The Pre-Fall garments feature no extra embellishments except a few metal studs on the dresses and leather pink and black block arrows which featured on the sleeveless, white leather biker vest. The simplistic and plain looks created a very elegant feel.

One stand-out look for me was a baggy red dress which featured an elastic waist pulling and formed several asymetric pleats. Around the neck, and down to the waist, is lined with red leather decorated with silver metal studs. The dress was paired with black leggings making the dress/legging combo extremely cool.

Two sizable fur coats – real-fur no less – in a burnt grey and brown were also seen in the collection. Perfect for when the temperature goes down and for making a strong statement. The models also wore golden hooped earrings and heightened berets giving us a ‘90s My So-Called Life feel.

Long pleated skirts and over-sized, pleated wide-leg trousers seems to be a popular choice for pre-fall. Turtlenecks, unusual trouser and shirt cuts, puffy pirate sleeves and the abundance of overlaying came together to create a unique collection.
