Benjamin Tietge shoots Ayobami Okekunle for Glass

BORN and raised in Hamburg, Benjamin Tietge moved to New York and fully relocating and making it his base in 2006. While working as a freelance assistant, he had the opportunity to work for the photographer Steven Meisel through two seasons, then for Annie Leibovitz for almost two years. In the end of 2010, he was approached by Mario Testino to become his first assistant and therefore relocated to London.

“After over four years with him on the road, I quit working for him and assisting in general and took some time for myself. With his experience in the fashion industry, working for a range of publications and brands, shooting celebrities, musicians and artist, since 2016 he is purely concentrating his career on his own work as a photographer, doing portraiture and fashion photography, as well as shooting documentaries and travelling when the time allows it,” says Tietge.
