The Port Washington Public Library celebrates iconic fashion photography with The Reflected Eye online show

THE PORT Washington Public Library has brought together some of fashion’s most illustrious photographers in a new interactive virtual exhibition, entitled The Reflected Eye: Fashion through the Lens of the Photographer.

Curated by historian and co-founder of IconicFocus modelling agency Patty Sicular and Vanessa Nastro, special collections librarian at the Port Washington Public Library, the two-part exhibit will delve into the history of fashion’s most iconic images, with each artist detailing its backstory in their own words.

The exhibit, on view from April 1, will also include in-depth documentary-style video interviews with notable fashion curators, historians, and editors, recorded and produced by journalist Lucy Lara and Mexico-based photographer, Rames Xelhuantzi.

“The image people see has immense work that went into it; photographers, their assistants, models, creative directors, editors, hair, makeup, stylists, model agents, designers, set designers or location scouts, not to mention the dress and accessories designers,” says Sicular. “It’s a thrill for me to be working with Vanessa Nastro and her team at the Port Washington Library.”
