10 years at Petersham Nurseries

This month the botanical treasure-trove that is Petersham Nurseries will be celebrating its 10th year. Overlooking the London Thames in Richmond, the garden centre had a humble start back in the 1970s before closing in the ‘90s for extensive refurbishment.

The re-launch in 2004 saw the gardens transformed into a luxuriously eclectic experience where a plethora of antiques and homewear were – and still are – sold amongst the plants in the traditional greenhouses. The addition of a tea house selling pastries and tea soon evolved into a restaurant, and under the direction of Skye Gyngell won an acclaimed Michelin star back in 2011 – propelling its seasonal Italian menus upwards in popularity, and established it as serious contender on the culinary scene.

To celebrate the summer and its anniversary, Petersham will host a range of events from Wine tastings – promoting the newest addition to the family, Petersham Cellar – to evening supper clubs where menus are inspired by the garden and served by candlelight.
