Suzan FreconĀ and Richard Serra exhibit in David Zwirner gallery in Hong Kong

DAVID ZWIRNER opens two new show displaying works of American artists Suzan FreconĀ and Richard Serra for the first time in Hong Kong. Both exhibitions have the intentionĀ to show challenging art without compromise. Represented by David Zwirner since 2008, Frecon creates abstract oil paintings and works on paper that are at once reductive and expressive.

Ā With the composition serving as a foundational structure for the asymmetrically balanced forms and splashes of colour, Freconā€™s paintings are those ā€œthat you experienceā€, as the artist herself noted. Continuously engaging with the sensory possibilities of painting, Frecon takes inspiration for her watercolours in the unique characteristics of each leaf of paper she uses, encouraging viewers to consider the durational activity of painting itself.

In a similarly radical and experimental manner, Richard Serra is known for his large-scale, site-specific sculptures that manifest the notions of time, materiality, and process, at the same time, eluding from any metaphorical or emotive associations. One of the leading artists of his generation, Serra has been the recipient of many notable prizes and awards, including a Leone dā€™Oro for lifetime achievement at the Venice Biennale.

Guided by the ethos and spirit of commitment to the artists and their art, David Zwirner gallery hosted over 300 exhibitions in past 25 years, expanding from the legendary Greene Street location worldwide in London and recently in Hong Kong.
