PALMER//harding’s SS19 collection was focused on creating a heroine who is determined to prevail. A woman that is focused and unstoppable, yet has a mysterious nature to her. The brand known famously for their shirts, mixed this collection up with tailoring, cinched waists with volume, peeking lingerie and knitwear – a clear mixture of femininity and masculinity. This duality in design highlights the complex nature of women in a positive manner. Shirts and dress had elements of side slits and architecturally shaped sleeves, while trousers either had soft tapering legs or the functionality of being wide legged.
The colour scheme for this collection spread across the spectrum creating juxtapositions, highlighting the overall aim of the two designers for the type of woman they wanted to create. Bright red was swirled in with navy and white, as well as forest green.
The classic shirting stripes and pyjama strips were evident in the collection; however, some patterns were purposefully disrupted creating small glitches. This season also presented the brands first venture into prints, such as incorporating stripes with floral.
