Samuel Ross continues his collaboration with Hublot with the new Big Bang Tourbillon

CONTINUING to offer a platform for creativity to thrive on, Hublot’s prestigious Hublot Loves Art initiative sees their official brand ambassador, Samuel Ross offer his interpretation of one of their timepieces.

The British creative director approached this project with the idea of fusing together the past and present by uniting the meticulous tradition of hand-finishing with the innovation of cutting-edge mechanisms.

Mirroring a similar outlook on his material choice, Ross picked granite, an organic material, and steel, a man-made one, to help emphasise this idea.

“The youngest artist we have ever worked, Samuel Ross’s 360-degree approach is unique and intelligent, incorporating the watch, packaging, communication, and visual identity”, explains Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot. “What is so special about this collaboration is the direct interaction between design and object, ideas and form”.

Increasing the size of the watch by 4mm, the Big Bang Tourbillon Samuel Ross incorporates the classic stylised hexagon against a titanium honeycomb mesh – thus, combining the functionality that is key to Ross’ design language and the seamless look linked to Hublot.

Made from an impressive 282-components, only 50 of these timepieces will be manufactured, making it the ultimate collector’s item for the year.

“Hublot personifies velocity, precision, and exploration,” states Samuel Ross. “Pairing the unparalleled craft and expertise of Swiss watchmaking alongside a spirit of sharp, innovative thinking and design solutions, crystallised the cadence between Ricardo and I.”
