Rome comes alive with exclusive cinematic tour

Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts, has created a brand new cinematic tour, featuring the most iconic and picturesque historic Roman landmarks, as featured in the 2014 Oscar award-winning movie for Best Foreign Language Film, La Grande Bellezza.

The Roman Forum

Rome Cavalieri’s experienced and resident art historian, Alexandra Massini, will accompany the Great Beauty Cinematic Tour. Starting with a morning visit to Fontana Dell Acqua Paola, the location of the movie’s opening scene featuring the protagonist Jep Gambardella (played by Tony Servillo), the tour then moves on to Bramante’s Tempietto at San Pietro, a stunning domed chapel which highlights the eternal city’s magnificent architecture.

Crossing the River Tiber and walking through the majestic Piazza Farnese, the tour explores the decadent apartments of the Renaissance Palace of Marquis Sacchetti, which also features in the film. Lunch will then be served at the glamorous home of Marchioness Violante Guerrieri Gonzaga.

Finally, after wandering through Piazza Navona and exploring the historic Villa Medici and the ancient Baths of Caracalla, the tour will end on Roman high, with an expected discovery made through a hidden keyhole.
