Qatar Creates, Qatar Museums and Maison Valentino unveil Forever Valentino exhibition

VALENTINO has been a leading Italian institution in the fashion and luxury sectors for decades. Its rich and multifaceted history has introduced many groundbreaking and revolutionary explorations of Haute Couture praised and cherished by many extravagance lovers to this day. There is no doubt that this brand holds a strong signature DNA and historical significance that only continues to evolve and astound the world of fashion. In honour of this magnificent heritage, from October 28 2022 to April 1 2023, M7, the design and innovation hub located in Msheireb Downtown, Doha, will welcome Maison’s first presentation in the Middle East – the largest Valentino exhibition to date.
Materialized in a dream-like space of reimagined Rome, which has been Valentino’s home since its foundation in 1959 and the place where everything started, the display is described as “a stunning theatrical experience” and was curated by Massimiliano Gioni, Artistic Director of the New Museum New York, and fashion critic and author Alexander Fury, working closely with the brand’s current Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli. The codes of Valentino and the methodologies of its extravagant creations are explored throughout juxtaposed spaces of different atmospheres and narratives composed by an emotional dramaturgy inspired by the 18th-century art form, capriccio. It unites disparate views of cities and architectures, reimagining them as fantastical landscapes of the mind. Pierpaolo Piccioli Over 200 pieces of Valentino Haute Couture pieces and pret-à-porter outfits will be presented on mannequins by La Rosa and accompanied by accessories and fashion objects. Rarely seen garments designed for American celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy and, more recently, Zendaya will also be on display. Additionally, the exhibit will showcase apparel from the private collection of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, a long-standing client of Valentino. The exquisite garments surrounded by the beauty of Rome will envelop the attendees in Valentino’s natural habitat, transporting them to the traces of the place of the initial creation and paving tribute to Maison’s success. by Zlata Kriukova
