IN A moment bittersweet, Kim Jones revealed his last ever collection today for the Louis Vuitton men’s autumn 2018 show. The final debut was marked by a culmination of culture, futurism and Jones’ thirst for adventure, intertwined with significant designs from his seven year career with the French house.
The suave of the traveller – always moving, never settling. Well-equipped for voyage in attire with mechanical features influenced from physical activities and high-impact sports. Crossing borders in cowboy boot inspired footwear, shearling and titanium details. Travel snaps taken from a helicopter ride across Kenya were transferred directly onto sportswear inspired pieces, long overcoats and shorts pulled over leggings.
Earth pigments of rocks like granite and sandstone, the luxe sheen of silver and steel grey, juxtaposed with the energy of orange zest and highlighter yellow. All in all an explosion of culture and global perspectives coming together to transform and free. As we bid farewell to Jones, the world speculates upon the next destination point of the British designer.
