PFWM SS19: Loewe

LOEWE showed off their playful side, with a colourful collection in Paris this week. In an array of candy-like colours with whimsical decorations and pompoms everywhere, Loewe showcased their men’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection. Pieces hanging on display were in a variety of bold colours, patterns and prints. Dumbo the elephant made an appearance on one blouse, a cardigan with an embroider lion, and snakeskin fabric trousers were all among the variations of items in the fun and flamboyant collection.

Loewe themselves describe the collection as telling intimate stories of bohemian life, the collection flits across time and space to illicit a boyish study of dressing up – where childhood memories haze with botanical and geometric motifs like sea urchins and stained glass, cowri shells and whelks, bandanas, and mythological lions.

The Men’s SS19 collection, designed by Jonathan Anderson, marks the second collaboration with photographer Duane Michals. Working with the Ready-To-Wear collection, Michals photographed models artistically and unconventionally staged at Casa Gallardo, a privately owned Madrid home. The photographs, which were styled by Benjamin Bruno is immortalised in a hardcover photo book designed by M/M Paris and printed in a limited edition of 1,200 hand-numbered copies.
