PFW SS21: Homme Plissé Issey Miyake

STEP into Japanese designer legend Issey Miyake’s vision for fashion in Spring 2021 as the collection is debuted digitally for the first time. While the spring season of 2021 right now seems like a distant future, the designer uses colour to inject some positivity into next year’s menswear. An eclectic colour palette of beige, neon and pastels, it seems that the designer envisions 2021 will be a year of vibrancy and life.

The collection showcases a very relaxed silhouette – think slouchy trousers with oversized tailoring as the key look. Will this be the influence of the surge of loungewear on designers? Maybe not. The collection also draws inspiration from sportswear, throwing in a handful of colourful basketball shorts, zipped hoodies, and surprisingly chic backpacks.

Overall, the thirty look collection was a refreshing and ultimately hopeful look into next year’s menswear trends. Let’s just hope that 2021 gives us the opportunity to be as loud and colourful with our clothes as possible.
