Dries Van Noten transformed the Parisian runway into an old Hollywood dream for SS16. Every fabric dripped with luxury, the models had their hair spun up and away from their faces in a classic style – it was like a film noir projecting in front of you.
The majority of the pieces that floated down the runway had a large injection of colour or pattern that displayed an oriental vibe which permeated the show and which made it compelling viewing. One thing is for certain, spring will definitely be a colourful season.
The show did not just focus purely on old glamour in terms of womenswear. Many of the models appeared in pieces more designed for menswear that were given a fun twist to keep them modern and feminine in a balance between red carpet and wearable.
Overall it was a youthful collection for anyone who still idolises the time before the 1960s. Much of the new fashion appearing in today’s market has a 1970s or ‘90s feel to it, but Dries Van Noten kept with the classics this time and gave us something to lust after.
