PFW SS15: Leonard

It’s always a delight to see fresh talent emerge from Paris’ roster of high fashion high clout fashion houses every season, going on to garner all the attention it deserves. This season, that accolade went to Chinese-born, Paris-raised, and now Paris-based Couture designer Yiqing Yin for her valuable contribution to Leonard Paris. Following up on a promising debut at Leonard with a collection equally as directional, the designer had a clear notion of whereabouts SS15 should take the house, taking casuals to the most highly crafted extremes, but not at the expense of all important SS comfortability.

Injecting a vibrant splash of multicolour into the mix, Yin doted on silky playsuits with a focus on painterly florals, designed to be the colour in your life. From then on, she followed these impeccable ingredients, wrapping and draping loose airy fabrics to dramatise the female presence. This is the stuff of a woman who needs her fashion sense to take her to extremes. However, on being broken down, you should see that there wasn’t a trace of flouncy vulgarity though. Instead, Yin delivered a collection that had the blissful ease of the tropics, but made sure to dash it with a little decadence, after all, when one takes a pleasure trip to another continent, they should want to be seen. Or at least Yin thinks so, and we concur.
