MARKING her third anniversary at the creative helm of Chloé, Natacha Ramsay-Levi continued to establish strong silhouettes of powerful women for her AW20 collection. Garnished with Marion Verboom’s golden totem sculptures, Marianne Faithfull’s haunting spoken word poetry echoed throughout the walls of the Grand Palais, with Lord Byron’s She Walks in Beauty among the works of classic literature that featured on the soundtrack. Typically renowned for feminine and romantic bohemian themes, Ramsay-Levi exerted creative flair with timeless wardrobe staples that connoted elegance and simplicity.
Celebrating a “community of creative spirits”, Ramsay-Levi affirmed that while “clothes are great”, the importance of “creative women” walking the runway was a prominent aspect of the show.
The show opened with Kaia Gerber captivating the attention of guests in a checked shirt thigh-high split dress cinched at the waist with an embroidered belt and accessorised with a chunky neck choker. The collection comprised an earthy colour palette, with neutral hues of beige, cream, grey and tan.
With the inclusion of quintessential Chloé staples, such as the meticulous tailoring, delicate blouses and romantic dresses, Ramsay-Levi customised each to make them uniquely special. With a primary focus on individuality, supported by Parisian-inspired hairstyles and an array of contrasting make-up looks, the Chloé girl has evidently evolved to depict confidence and sophistication.
Subtle ‘70s references were featured, with boxy-fitted coats and blazers, flared trousers and rolled-sleeve jackets.
Ethereal chiffon dresses comprised the show’s concluding looks, with necklines adorned in floral embroidery and gold and silver nature-inspired accessories.
In the very words of Byron, Chloé’s AW20 collection was “serenely sweet”, “soft” and “eloquent”, with Ramsay-Levi opting for feminist undertones and house muses to showcase a triumphant show to remember.
