PFW AW19: Saint Laurent

DURING the Saint Laurent AW19, we witnessed a parade of sexy nightwalkers. Knee-high boots, strong shoulders, sheer tops and plenty of leopard print – Anthony Vaccarello added a healthy dose of sex appeal to the Saint Laurent label.

Models in sunglasses came down the runway all rocking strong shoulders, serving us an attitude we could only dream of. Platform-high heels were worn with structured blazers, either worn shirtless or over a transparent top. What would a Saint Laurent show be without some glitz and glam and the occasional animal-print? As our nightwalkers crawled deeper into the night, fur became a part of the heavy rotation as well as some striking fedora hats.

The black colour palette was replaced with bright pops of red and turquoise along with oversized fuzzy leopard-printed scarfs and indulgently embellished Spanish-inspired blazers and tops. Dresses grew shorter and sparkled even brighter and were finished off with a bow or a statement shoulder.

With puffy skirts, ruffled and ruched jumpsuits and liquid black looks the collection excelled in what we like to call evening-chic. The menswear was sharply cut – hello Hedi Slimane – yet, by contrast, the pin-stripes weren’t thin yet came in the form of thick bands.

Lights dimmed, all awaiting the grand finale to take place, but to our surprise, it was time for some blacklight magic. Models wore thick faux fur coats with neon accessories, letting all the white stripes and neon pieces shine to their fullest potential.

Vaccarello knows how to add that modern twist to Saint Laurent AW19 collection his neon nightwalkers.
