Olivier Lapidus departs Lanvin after two collections

THE FRENCH luxury fashion house Lanvin finds itself once again without a creative director, as after debuting only two collections for the brand, Olivier Lapidus has reportedly been ousted by the Chinese conglomerate Fosun Group, who acquired a majority stake in the label last month.

The French fashion designer failed to make an impact with his two collections for the house, and the exit comes after a similarly short 16-month tenure for Bouchra Jarrar ended with Lapidus’ own appointment in July of last year. Changes are also happening within Fosun itself – Joann Cheng, president of Fosun Fashion Group and chairman of the Lanvin board of directors, will step into the role of chief executive during the interim.

In a statement, Cheng thanked Olivier for steering the Maison “through a transitional period between ownerships.” She continued, “we thank him for that and wish him every success for his own brand and future endeavours.”
