LOCATED at Pier 59, Todd Snyder’s AW18 collection tapped into our perceptions of American high school fashion with an old-school twist. A range of styles synonymous with teenage stereotypes ruled the runway, with athletic sportswear sported alongside button-down shirts and ties resembling jock and nerd archetypes we’ve learnt from the big screen
Smart-casual describes the collection perfectly, with a variety of tailored garments teamed with relaxed sweatshirts and wide leg jeans. Textured fabrics played an important role in the collection, with corduroy and fur heightening simplistic garment shapes.
Opening the collection with vibrant tones of blue, the colour story begins to evolve, shifting from blues to pinks to yellows. With a wide range of clashing colours, cohesion comes from the use of print and ease of garment silhouettes. Striped jumpers styled with indigo- denim turn-ups scream ‘70s vibes juxtaposed with grungy red and black checked shirts playing up to the late ‘90s trend dominating this season.
