THE dazzling Proenza Schouler SS24 runway show was held at Phillips Auction House on Saturday, September 9, featuring a musical composition throughout by the wonderful Weyes Blood, who also opened the presentation.
With a strong, playful motif within, the collection takes a deep dive into the realities of commerce as the House experiments with new inspirations. For example, we see a contemporary monogram has been launched and it holds the intrinsic qualities that define Proenza Schouler. Each and every wearer showcases a woman who is adult, urban, intelligent, and yet youthful.
As they explore the codes that make us who we are, a personality and identity is formed to reject the outside’s pressure for change without any sound reason.
However, there is still a balance between the old and the new as a challenge is created by working with different techniques and materials that help push the brand into countless directions.
Starting with a strictly monotone aesthetic, the garments appear genderless and incredibly cool to promote a summer vibe that isn’t compromised of flowy dresses. There’s structural blazers and tailored trousers showing a different side to summer evening wear.
Before long, and after a range of white, black and neutral tones, we see our first pop of colour in a stunning turquoise-blue. A skirt that appears like a wrap around add on feature catches everyones eye as it sparkles under the lights.
With reflective, iridescent aspects the sequined-like texture stuns all as you can imagine already what that would look like under the sun.
A mix of trench coats, denim jeans, and figure embracing dresses begin to follow, showing the versatility of the Proenza Schouler woman, showing a collection that is truly built for all.
