Milan Menswear AW15: Missoni

Missoni made a jaunty addition to their menswear line this season, putting on an exotic display which saw the ideal Missoni man take his first steps on a pathway of opulent ethnic rugs. Angela Missoni, creative head of the Milanese family empire, demonstrated her natural instinct for creating a motif that was authentically bohemian while maintaining a luxury appeal through and through.

A practical paradise of textures, the cardigan heavy collection also cemented something that Missoni herself often strives for – the assurance that “made in Italy” craft lives on and continues to break new ground. Ironically, despite this, it was the designer’s predilection for Far Eastern style that laid the foundations for this menswear showing. Some retro harem-esque casuals in expensive colour patterns worked a treat to completely contradict the ubiquitous brooding brutalist aesthetic that menswear is known for, singling out Missoni above the rest.

Overall, when it comes to handling a cacophony of textile fibres, you simply cannot go wrong with Missoni, indeed, it’s nothing that you wouldn’t expect from the brand but it’s something that the modern man can consider to funk up his wardrobe with not too much complication.
