MFWM AF19: Billionaire

THE HISTORIC Palazzo del Senato in Milan was covered in snow last night during the breathtaking spectacle that Billionaire created for their FW19 show at the Milan Fashion Week. Being a sponsor of the Monte Carlo Polo Team, Billionaire invited its guests to learn the basic rules of a polo game while enjoying the parade of dashing suits, silk shirts and leather jackets, all effortlessly wrapped in the palette of warm autumnal colours.

This new winter wardrobe, made entirely in Italy, adds a hint of exotic glamour to the traditional sartorial luxury of Billionaire’s menswear: trousers are tucked into knee-high crocodile riding boots, varsity jackets are adorned with mink collars, and cashmere blankets, decorated with the Billionaire crest, are draped over shoulders. Billionaire’s philosophy to celebrate the playboys, fortune-makers and empire-builders of this world is manifested in this extravagant and rich collection.

Known as “the sport of kings”, polo was the perfect supplement to the unsurpassed luxury of the looks. The members of the Monte Carlo Polo team, equipped in Billionaire helmets, saddles and riding boots, showcased the art of the game in a brief yet remarkably fascinating practice. The collection itself did not lack equestrian influence, but it also included some pieces for the post-match action in the evening: sparkling sequin dinner jackets, bowties and coat-of-arm loafers.

The mysterious designer of the brand, Mr Plutus, miraculously appeared at the end of the show, taking the stage on a horseback and captivating the attention of the viewers. Part man, part machine, the character represents a new breed of creative force in the fashion industry – placing Billionaire at the forefront of a new era in menswear.
