MFW SS22: Brunello Cucinelli

RUNNING a mile away from the idea of “only strictly necessary”, Brunello Cucinelli has returned to Milan Fashion Week with the distinctive mindset to dress up. Bringing together influences from glamour, a contemporary versatile aesthetic and the Italian brand’s recognisable love for refinement, the spring-summer 2022 collection balances ease with elegance.

Marking the revival of movement in all forms, the collection represents freedom. The colour palette this season takes a turn into a brighter, more colourful array of pieces, turning up the saturation levels and injecting vibrant hues of red, yellow and bamboo green into the usual sea of beiges, serene blues and minimalistic greys.

Beyond the tones of the clothing, luxurious materials and craftsmanship are the true focus points as precision has been taken to each and every detail. As lightly touched upon, Brunello Cucinelli picked the most necessary characteristics of couture and reinterpreted them into ready-to-wear, making them more relaxed and in turn blurring the lines between daywear and evening attire.

Geometric lunes of Argyle are revisited this season but in feminine crochet, while embroidery and jacquard fabrics present the savoir-faire of Brunello’s capabilities.

Carefully blending relaxing silhouettes with a strong female attitude through sophisticated styles, the variety and versatility of this season’s clothes is credit to the brands ability to read what is being asked by consumers.

After a year of leisurewear at home, clothes and their design must adapt to our newfound taste for ease and practicality – we want to wear the same thing from day to night without any fuss and Brunello Cucinelli certainly gave us what we wanted.
