MFW SS16: DSquared2

At Dsquared2 this season powerhouse twosome Dean and Dan Caten did things their way and were generally onto a winner when it came to kooky summery clothing, tinged with a strappy, slinky beachwear theme that is entirely fit for their contemporary audiences.

Wafty caftan-like dresses that put the emphasis on skirts were created to contrast against the skin-tight floral prints that were fused with frantic embellishments in a move that was very Milanese, throwing demure to the wind.

Moving on, gaudy mini-dresses and fur bolero-cum-bombers thrown across the shoulders rather cast minds back to the early-days of trashy reality TV starring multimillionaire hotel heiresses  wearing Von Dutch caps, sweatbands and wraparound shield sunglasses with Dior pasted on the side, so quite the dividing design choice.

This season will keep those who know what to expect from the Catens happy and when it comes to their full-frontal fashion house, one feels that all they really want to do is make the people who care to splash out the cash for their clothing entertained. This was a collection that did just that, and like a futuristic Folies Bergère on steroids, this was some kind of entertainment.
