MFW AW15: Roberto Cavalli

If there’s one thing that can be said for AW15 at Cavalli it’s that less is never more but a more lessened approach to cramming a myriad of motifs into one collection is the more steady route. Following SS’s fever pitch of leather and lace and everything else sweet, neon and sour, the designer kept it cool for prima-donna sophistication this time round.

All the leopard print was positively stately, restrained by blocks of black or distracting frills and soon lost its spots in favour of some enchanting gold-encrusted baroque florals. The rest was all very modern in it’s newfound seventies blousy’ness, ticking all the right boxes for the hippie within in shades of golden mustard.

The glam was all about the monochrome checks and frayed lengths of goat’s fur trims which blended easily with the more understated snippets of matte leather that took the prize in a crocodile embossed snap. Finally, some sex bomb dresses that at once covered the form but also left little to the imagination thanks to strategic catwalk-skimming fringes kept up London’s trend for the more high-octane cocktail eveningwear that we simply can’t wait to see in action.

Eventually the practically operatic in their sensational end-appeal handful of finale gowns in deep ombre tones followed the best of the rest sublimely and Cavalli took a very confidant walkout to commemorate a very well put-together A/W showing.
