Margaret Howell to open new store at Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross

AS THE saying goes the third time’s a charm. The British fashion brand, Margaret Howell, synonymous with understated style,  is set to open its third MHL. store in late October this year in King’s Cross, London. The store at King’s Cross’ latest shopping establishment Coal Drops Yard continues the label’s conquest of the hippest districts in the city, following stores in Marylebone and Shoreditch. This shop will be the first, since 2013, and will carry the company’s MHL’s range of carefully constructed basics and sportswear as well menswear and womenswear from its mainline.

Known for  its functional yet elegant sensibility, Margaret Howell is not the only brand to open up in the King’s Cross district. Coal Drops Yard will also be home to other fashion retailers such as Paul Smith, Tom Dixon, Emin & Paul and restaurants Barrafina and Casa Pastor. Originally established as a coal store in Victorian London and subsequently revived in the form of the  legendary nightclubs Bagley’s and The Cross, Coal Drops Yard’s has been reinvented by Heatherwick Studio, who kept the surviving structures and ironwork and modernised it with contemporary design codes. Set to become a part of one of London’s emerging shopping districts, this is Coal Drop Yard’s third lease of life – truly, third time’s lucky.
