This collaboration is a celebration of the way that music and natural visual beauty complement each other, and the performances are sure to stimulate all the senses, as Belmond invites guests to experience “exceptional music in exceptional locations”.

The London Philharmonic Orchestra, which was founded in 1932, is widely recognised as one of the world’s finest symphony orchestras, and frequently tours abroad. However, this series represents an exciting opportunity for its musicians to perform in some of the world’s most beautiful settings.

“We are so excited to be partnering with Belmond to create experiences that are bigger than ourselves,” said Vladimir Jurowski, the orchestra’s Principal Conductor. Jurowski expressed excitement at the fact that the collaboration offers audiences the opportunity to “listen, marvel and most importantly wonder at the world around them.”

The Wonder Collection began in Sicily on September 3, where the Orchestra performed arias from Sicilian musician Vicenzo Bellini’s well-beloved opera Norma, as well as baroque music including Henry VIII’s Rose without a Thorn. Guests enjoyed the music while enjoying a view of Mount Etna and the sea.

This September, Belmond’s Hotel das Cataratas in Brazil guests experienced the music of Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos against the spectacular waterfalls of the Iguazu River. The music of Villa-Lobos combines European tradition with Brazilian folk, creating an atmosphere that perfectly complemented its surroundings. The hotel, which sits alone on the Brazilian side of National Heritage Site Iguazu National Park, closed the park, allowing the guests to enjoy the tranquillity of the site’s natural beauty.

In the new year, the collaboration will reach Botswana. On April 20, the symphony will perform Saint-Saen’s wind quartet, Carnival of the Animals, at Belmond’s newly designed lodged in the Okavango Delta. Belmond invites guest to join them in the new lodges for a six night adventure, which will feature, alongside the performance by the London Symphony Orchestra, safari visits.
