THE Emporio Armani SS18 show featured a vast selection of womenswear, menswear and accessories to commemorate the opening of their new store on Bond Street. The collection reflected the seething hot-pot of culture and fashion of not just Europe, but London too. An array of mirrored sunglasses, colourful sequins and elegantly placed berets added to the mixture of looks at the show held at London’s Tobacco Dock.
A sea of pastel, yet vibrant, womenswear with intermissions of dark tailored menswear made up the collection. Pastel pinks and blues with somewhat childish patterns turned into red, white and pink complementing pieces. The models tousled hair and smoky black eyes tied the looks together. Tailored chinos for both men and women made for Armani’s androgynous staple piece for this season, where beige featured heavily as a short respite from the other girlish colours.
Armani’s use of stripes is a clear example of the versatility of the clothing. Grey pin-striped suits and pastel striped one-pieces followed one after the other with a reminiscence of the streets of London. From office-wear to leisure-wear to evening-wear, Armani ensured these categories were blurred and clothes are simply to wear.
