MFW SS15: Gucci

Oozing Italian glamour, the  – 90 years legacy – Gucci’s SS15 show at Milan Fashion Week was a flashback to the ‘70s with Asian influences throughout.

Like AW14, the luxury house maintained its sophisticated, chic elements albeit redefined its codes with some eccentric, bohemian touches. As Frida Giannini said before the show, she wanted to create a chic but at the same time easy and ironic collection. Last season was all about textures with leather, python and furs on centre stage but this time the variety spreads with garments in oriental florals, suede trench and colorful unique prints.

Some of the show key moments were the Geisha-style kimono, the bohemian glossy goat-hair vest and the oxymoronic militarist jackets. Midi-skirts in green leather, and snakeskin as well as patchwork dresses in firey red, floral and leather, teamed with collars, belts in waist, lace helms and high-heels sandals and suede boots, oozing feminine sophistication. Beyond a doubt, the camel and fire red suede bottom-up overcoat will be adored by the Gucci girls since the collection will be in store in February. One of the staple of this season is undoubtedly denim; denim dresses and denim loose in broderie anglaise trousers accompanied with the brand’s classic red and green on the straps bags.

In brief the hippyish style with the oriental dresses and the mandarin collars made all the difference this season and reasserted, once again, Gucci’s place on fashion’s coveted higher ground.
