LFW AW16: Peter Pilotto

For AW16 Peter Pilotto decided whimsy was going to be the theme of this season. Doing light, winter wonderland-like tones with some contrasting pastels in order to create a feeling that felt like something out of Disney’s Frozen.

The intricacy of the collection is almost awe-inspiring when examined more thoroughly. Through a collaboration with Caragh Thuring, which was created with the full support of American Express, Thurning painted fabrics that were intricately done and inspired more detailing and embroidery throughout the collection. One of the most beautiful being a thick coat that has dark tones fading down to the elbows before it appears more as a glacier with reflections from the northern lights – like a mountain in the night sky.

The beautiful work doesn’t end there with many of the other articles showing detail work that has a bit of a winter forest feel. Leaves and floral like spirals layered into the fabric working their way up and across shoulder lines. There’s even a few parts of this detailing within the collection that appear like an illustrator’s portrayal of cogs and clockwork gears if they were done as flowers.

It’s a cold feeling collection that has enough knits, coats, and flowing skirts to make any woman feel fun and flirty all winter long. While still keeping her warm, of course.
