THIS season Mayfair-based Manchester-made menswear brand Private White V.C. set about creating a SS17 wardrobe of informal jet-set luxury to be carted around the world in finely crafted trunks by the baggage handler of the contemporary traveller. Presenting during London Collections: Men, Private White’s summer traveller went on a transatlantic trip from Manchester Airport to LAX, a concept craftily and entertainingly played out through boarding passes being issued at the door of their flagship store on Duke Street before guests were ushered downstairs to preview the crisp and clean new collection being paraded in the mock departures lounge.
High class and very well rolled-out hoopla aside, SS17 saw creative director Nick Ashley incorporating the accoutrements of a nomadic lifestyle with Private White signatures including Ventile Travel Blazer and Travel Trousers. New styles, The Rambler, a jacket based on traditional shooting attire crafted from 100 per cent waterproof Ventile, are seen along with the rest of the travel conscious collection in an earthy colour palette of natural sand, mud and olive hues strengthened by dark marine blues and navy.
