Sibling gave new meaning to the term foxy boxing this season, sending their beautiful boys down the catwalk in full pugilist rig-out. Last season’s college jocks in Sibling Pink have toughened up, and are now gilded youth serving apprenticeships in a ring with Grace Jones in one corner, and in the other, Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Floor-sweeping knitted coats and chunky robes graffiti-ed with Basquiat crowns prove that grandeur and coziness can go hand in gloved hand.
For those after a more understated shimmer and dangerous gleam, this season’s Sibling sequin leopard is black and blue, big and bold, and growls “buy me”.
Medals are pinned to chests and waistbands, causing them to swing jauntily at crotch-level, a masculine enhancement that works much as a sporran does, but being a medal, proclaims that the wearer has seen action. A lot of action.
Sibling are renowned for the beauty of their boys. Lead make-up artist Dominic Skinner swiped the Sibling boxers’ eyelids and noses (where you might normally expect to see wounding) with a customised mix of gold Mac pigments – and demonstrated that you can indeed gild a lily to great effect.
Meticulously observed and beautifully detailed, break each look into its component details and you’ll find that you want everything – including the knitted punchbags, which we rather fancy for bolsters.
Luxury suiting that looks – in the very best way – like it’s come from a Demob outlet. Blanket skirts fastened loosely at the hips, with a louche elegance that brings to mind the hero from the Sun’s long-running comic strip George & Lynne; fresh from the shower and with his towel always just on the point of slipping off.
Short trousers and sturdy shoes, tie-belts, bright pyjama piping on a slouchy, sexy jumpsuit … this is a collection that is meaty, beaty, big and bouncy – we want it all and we want it now.
