In 2007, in Stubbeylee Park, Bacup, Lancashire, Sophie Lancaster and boyfriend Robert Maltby were ambushed and beaten by a gang in a brutal attack until they both lost consciousness. Their crime? Looking different. Twenty-year old Sophie later died from her injuries.
Her mother Sylvia founded the charity – the Sophie Lancaster Foundation – in memory of her daughter. The foundation aims to create “respect for and understanding of subcultures in our communities, confronting animosity towards people, no matter what they look like or wear, no matter who they are.”
Illamasqua will be donating part of the sales of these items to the charity.
