Glass tries out CeraVe skincare line – combining the best of skincare and science

SOMETIMES we forget that the most important thing about skincare is what it does for our skin. Among the exciting range of fragrances and magical promised benefits, it’s easy to get stuck in a loop of buying into skincare which doesn’t work. American skincare brand CeraVe is working hard to break that loop. Skincare developed with dermatologists, the brand was started with the idea that modern technology and science could be utilised in cosmetics. The brand quickly became a cult beauty staple in the States, and now is available for purchase in the United Kingdom .

CeraVe Moisturising Lotion

The first CeraVe product I put to the test was the Moisturising Lotion. Containing a mix of ceramides, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin, the lotion is oil-free – already winning points in my books. Quick to absorb and non-greasy, the lotion left my skin soft and moisturised throughout the day, without irritating my sensitive skin. Also, it’s mild formulation means it can be used for face as well as body, making it a great two in one product. For me, the best part of the lotion was its lasting moisturising effects – there is no need for reapplication or constant top ups.

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser

I also tried the CeraVe Hydrating cleanser, a non-foaming lotion formulated to moisturise and helps restore the skin’s protective barrier. Made for normal to dry skin types, the cleanser is oil-free and soap-free, making it ultra-gentle on the skin. In fact, the formula is so gentle it can be used on children (ages 3+). After using the cleanser, I noticed my skin felt refreshed and clean, while not becoming dried out, which is a big issue I have with many skincare products.

CeraVe Foaming Cleanser

The final cosmetic I sampled was the Foaming Facial Cleanser. I prefer a foaming cleanser, but often have issues with it irritating my skin due to the fact it often includes soap. However, this is totally soap-free, helping to refresh the skin while not completely stripping it of its natural properties. Probably my favourite skincare product of the bunch, the cleanser smelt great and left my skin clean and fresh. To me, this ticked all the boxes.
