Glass tries ByRuby – delicious at-home dining

IN THE hectic run-up to Christmas, what could be more enthralling than having somebody take care of dinner? Luckily for us, Ruby Bell is on a mission to make our lives that little bit easier.

Or, should we say, substantially easier. The talented chef, who trained at the renowned cookery school Leith’s, is the brains behind ByRuby, a frozen food delivery service like no other.

Her homemade meals, which include dishes such as Thai steamed trout and fish pie, are made from the finest British produce, contain zero preservatives, and can be kept in the freezer for months. Whatsmore, dinner will be on the table in less than an hour and could easily pass for gourmet home cooking – a real bonus should you be entertaining guests.

And, let’s be honest, this is dinner party dining at its best, not requiring you to do much more than switch on the oven.

Aubergine and Paneer Korma

ByRuby can be found in gourmet groceries nationwide and the company also has a seamless delivery system, meaning that dishes can be sent straight to your doorstep in minimal time. Orders arrive in Puffin Packaging’s 100% sheep’s wool packaging, which keeps produce within the temperature ranges required by the Food Standard Agency (FSA).

As the most efficient and sustainable packaging option on the market, it’s also 100% biodegradable and compostable. Top marks to ByRuby for its sustainability efforts.

Thai Trout

This winter sees the launch of several new dishes to the range which will certainly keep you satisfied during these long nights. Ruby’s chicken tikka masala sees British free-range chicken marinated in the chef’s signature spice mix and cooked in a rich masala sauce.

Superior to any take-away, hands down, it’s also far healthier. The aubergine and paneer korma is another welcome addition, offering a sumptuous creamy sauce that is packed with flavour.

Other hearty standouts include Beef Lasagne, Coq au Vin and Cottage Pie. Vegan and gluten-free options are also aplenty. There really is something for everyone here.

Having tried and tested the range at home,  we couldn’t have asked for a more impressive dining experience that was truly fresh and tasty.

ByRuby will from now on be a regular stand-by in our freezers, most certainly.
