Glass tests Givenchy’s multi-tasking Le Rose Perfecto lip balms

I CAN pinpoint the last time I was excited about a lip balm, it was 2012 and I finally got my hands on a mint-coloured EOS ball. It may very well be the most essential product in your beauty bag, but in all honestly it doesn’t make my beauty heart beat any faster. At least, that was until Givenchy announced the release of the multi-tasking lip balm with the ever so glamorous name – Le Rose Perfecto.

In 2018 well-nourished lips don’t cut it anymore, we scrub our lips, prime then, might apply some plumping product and then apply a colour but who has time for that. The soon-to-be-released lip balm is set to replace your trusty turn-up stick. Le Rose Perfecto is infused with shea butter, nourishing and quenching the thirst of winter lips.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, this lip balm promises to work as hard as you do. The balm is enriched with hyaluronic acid spheres that fill fine lines leaving your lips looking fuller and smoother. The third step is to show off these smooth and plump lips with some colour. Givenchy is to release eight shades ranging from reds, pinks and even threw a glittery sheer one in the mix – bringing back the early two-thousands. My personal favourite: Solar Red.

Time to put all these functions to the test, the consequences of the winter temperatures are all but too visible on my lips and for once that’s a blessing. The formula glides effortlessly over my – extremely chapped – lips yet led me to have a little slip-up when the tube abruptly stopped. Word from the wise, be very cautious when applying the lip balm. Rest assured, my joker smile was easily erased as this formula is so buttery. The creaminess of the formula facilitates easy reapplication and leaves some room for error, which isn’t the case when applying liquid or matte lipsticks. If you’re thinking of dipping your toe in the world of bright lip colours, I couldn’t recommend a better product as the pigment are very buildable and the application is easy.

After applying several coats, my lips looked significantly fuller, whether I can ascribe this to the colour or the formula is uncertain, but I’m not complaining about my bigger lips. The combination of the colour and the formula concealed any crustiness or dryness, perfectly hiding the real state of my lips.

Lastly, I have to talk about the colour, it’s simply stunning. The pumpkin-red is absolutely gorgeous and a nice break from your typical red, it worked extremely well with my skin tone, so good news for all the pale girls and guys out there. However, I should note that you should apply several coats to get a more intense colour pay-off.

I think it’s time to say goodbye to my trusty EOS and hello to the glamorous Givenchy.

Le Rose Perfecto will be available in early 2019 giving you enough time to save up and get excited for this new handbag essential.
