Glass reviews Omorovicza Silver Skin Saviour

FOR years I’ve been struggling with acne-prone skin, testing out numerous blemish battling products along the way. The next product that I’m bringing to the battlefield is the superbly named Silver Skin Saviour from the natural Hungarian skincare brand Omorovicza, pronounced o-mor-o-veet-sa.

Omorovicza’s origin can be traced back to the famous thermal baths of Budapest. Intrigued by the beneficial properties of the mineral-rich spa water founders Stephan and Margaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza embarked on a mission to – quite literally – contain these miraculous properties. Working together with a Noble prize-winning dermatology lab they made it possible for the richest minerals such as gold, diamond or in this case silver to penetrate the deepest layers of the skin while staying away from synethic colours and fragrances.

As the name implies, the main ingredient of the Silver Skin Saviour is, you guessed it, colloidal silver – known for its anti-bacterial and healing properties. Mixed with the trusty salicylic and glycol acids, this masks promises to combat existing breakouts, unclog your pores, leaving you with clearer, smoother and healthier skin.

The mask comes with a neat little spatula facilitating a hands-free application. The slightly transparent formula glides onto the skin and turns white once applied to the face. After leaving it on for a good 15 minutes I rinsed it off with some hot water, as this mask doesn’t dry down opposed to most acne-battling masks, which is a big plus. My blemishes had visibly decreased in size and there was a certain glow to my skin, yet the biggest surprise came the next morning as most of my spots had almost vanished.

However, as a seasoned spot-defeater I’m very suspicious as some products leave my skin soft and smooth only for it to break-out two days later or completely stripping it from its’ natural oils – a big no. I’ve been using the mask weekly over the course of a month now and the results are striking. Still no dry patch in sight, there is a certain glow to my skin most blemishes have remained subdued with the odd spot making an appearance from time to time.

The Silver Skin Saviour does its name proud and has become a Sunday-ritual staple, bringing the healing properties of the thermal Budapest baths to the comfort of my own bathroom.
