Glass relaxes in style at ME Ibiza Hotel

The ME-Ibiza in Santa Eulària des Riu is located on the tranquil eastern coast of the island, set away from the party towns of both San Antonia and Playa D’en Bossa. The coastal breeze hits me as soon as I approach the property and on entering the swanky reception I fall into one of the reception chairs hanging from the ceiling, and simply float, soaking up the laid back atmosphere. For interior vibe, think 80s Hollywood, coated with a brush of novo-Bohemian.

Natural materials compliment the sleek white interior, with stone, marble, linen and ceramic textures adding a cooling touch to the Balearic sun. After a staggering breakfast budget and with a glass of ice-cold glass of Verve-Cliquot in hand, I hear the beats echo from the poolside, immediately feeling the balance between the serenity and the vibrancy of the island. My bedroom provides a contemporary feel, adorned with simple, smart furnishings mirroring the island’s ability to pair minimalism with luxury. Looking out through the windows, I begin to appreciate the novelty of Santa Eulària and the panoramic eastern coastal view.

For guests seeking a quiet time to grab a daytime siesta under a sunshade, the hotel’s swimming pool area is where you can still manage to hear the soft breaking of the waves as you gently drift off to sleep. Immersed in the exclusivity of the ME-Ibiza on the southeast coast, it’s a treat to be away from the bustling downtown party scene.

Adjacent to the property is the world-renowned Nikki Beach Club, which is the perfect party experience for those who would like to sample a dose of what the island is known for best during the day. As the sun sets, I enjoy a cocktail to accompany the sounds of the house DJ, before heading to Ángel León’s pop-up restaurant on the hotel’s rooftop, which offers an impressive array of seafood tapas specialities. León cleverly manages to take the Mediterranean sea food culinary experience to a higher level – quite literally.

On my last evening I choose to experience the typical Ibiza nightlife, a swift 20-minute taxi ride south to Passeig Joan Carles. But by the end of the evening I am relieved to return to the tranquillity of the ME-Ibiza.
