Glass preview Tess Jaray’s Geometries at the New Art Centre, Salisbury

TESS Jaray’s new exhibition, Geometries will open at the New Art Centre in Salisbury in January. Jaray, known for her often large scale abstract works, will exhibit a series of new works that continue to explore her concept of the “geometry of human relationships” through the block colours and geometric shapes which characterise her oeuvre.

These new works include a collection of small scale paintings made in response to works by the 15th century painter Piero della Francesca. Jaray’s pieces take inspiration from della Francesca’s use of colour and his geometric compositions.

Larger works will also be on display. These explore the relationship between facade, internal space and the decorative motif. They explore the relationship between people and their surroundings; offering abstract renderings vested with questions of identity and place. Throughout these works, Juray seeks to condense complex surroundings to their “simplest means”; laying bear their condensed image, their very crux.
