SOME truly wonderful perfumes have been launched this year. Here is our selection of a few of our favourites – some of which hail from well-established houses as well as a couple of intriguing up-and-coming newcomers – the notes of rose and tuberose predominate in the line up.

Referencing Dior’s love of vivid red, Francois Demachy has created Rouge Trafalgar for the brand’s premium Maison Christian Dior range. This juice is indeed juicy and evokes that life-filled colour with scents of delicious fruity berries. This tart and juicy perfume is rich with raspberries, cherry and some citrusy hints of blackcurrant and grapefruit, with powdered patchouli in the drydown.

Nancy Meiland Parfums, Sous Bois

Nancy Meiland Parfums, Sous Bois
The latest scent from a new British brand, based on the south coast of England, Sous Bois is inspired by the Scottish Highlands and is a lovely wistful fern perfume which celebrates the sacredness of the forest It includes ingredients such as cypress, rain accord, sweet gale with bell heather, red clover, scots primrose, black hemlock, moss campion and birch tar, myrrh, labdanum and vetiver.

From one of the oldest British fragrance houses, for this spring Floris London debuts Tuberose in Silk which is infused with a high concentration of the ultimate white floral –the tuberose flower. \Hermès Parfum, L’Ombre Des Merveilles

L’Ombre Des Merveilles is the newest in Hermès Parfum’s Eau des Merveilles collection (first created in 2004), created by the brand’s lead perfumer the very talented Christine Nagel. L’Ombre Des Merveilles is a mellow citrus with a little dark twist given by the tonka bean, frankincense and black tea notes.

Atkinsons, Rose Rhapsody

Atkinsons, Rose Rhapsody
Created exclusively for Harrods, Rose Rhapsody is encased in a beautiful striking bottle, and is a somewhat knowing and a little bit earthy and spicy rose and is not so innocent. With hints of bergamot, mandarin, pink pepper; a heart of Turkish rose, jasmine, patchouli and oud, agarwood and leather at the base.

Bulgari, Omnia Golden Citrine

Bulgari, Omnia Golden Citrine
The latest in the Omnia range, Golden Citrine, is inspired by the gem of the same name and is a big and bright sunny floral concoction with notes of Sicilian mandarin, white peach, ylang ylang and jasmine with a base of cedarwood. The nose behind this is master perfumer Alberto Morillas.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian, L’eau À la rose

Launched for spring, this is a variation on the very successful eau de parfum from the glorious house, À la rose, this eau de toilette is a lovely crisp fresh rose – composed of two roses: one fruity and light and the other darker. Delicious.
