IF YOU haven’t been to Balans yet, you’ve really been missing out on quite the treat. But as one of London’s longest running restaurant groups, if you haven’t already indulged in their comfort food classics then … where have you been?
Chicken Tōgarishi Doughnut
For those of you who are already dedicated fans of the all-day breakfast and comfort food classics, they’ve got a little something for you, too. Allow us to introduce the Chicken Tōgarishi Doughnut. Effectively, tōgarashi marinated chicken, smoked bacon, Red Leicester, pickles and a Japanese kewpie slaw all stuffed into a light. fluffy doughnut (we’re drooling already.)
As well as an array of amazing new desserts on offer, including a churro spiral with whipped white chocolate ganache, topped with summer fruits, chocolate meringue, crispy almond tuile, salted caramel ice cream and served with chocolate sauce. Truly a can’t-miss for anyone with a sweet tooth.

With the restaurant’s long-time commitment to good times and good food, it’s no wonder that during these ‘unprecedented’ times they’ve had to take a fresh look at how they do things across their five capital locations to keep everything as safe as possible. Things like reducing capacity across the board, making hand sanitiser readily available and swapping out paper menus for QR-based versions in the interest of safety.
But, there’s one last little cherry on top we have to tell you about. Balans spent the month of August involved in the Eat Out to Help Out offering and are taking that generous offer one-step further by extending it through the month of September. Because everyone deserves a chance to get their hands on some of their famous dishes, right?
