First glimpse of Tisci’s Burberry collaboration with Vivienne Westwood

A BLURRED video reveals scattered footage of a Westwood tartan platform shoe. The first glimpse of this highly-anticipated collaboration between iconic British fashion house Burberry and legendary British designer Vivienne Westwood reveals itself for the first time.

The collaboration, which was first announced earlier this year, will be chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci’s first collusion under Burberry after succeeding Christopher Bailey’s 17 year reign at the helm.

A limited edition collection is promised that focuses on reinventing time-honoured British heritage fashion pieces. Tisci has already substantially shaken up the classic brand that has been steeped in tradition since its founding, perhaps most explicitly through the logo and monogram change – their first edit in over 20 years – this August. The reign of Riccardo Tisci has truly begun, and his chosen partner for this collaboration is no stranger to shaking up institutions and defying expectations. For decades, Vivienne Westwood has remained one of the most unconventional and outspoken fashion designers, so working with Tisci to breathe new life into the historic house of Burberry seems like a match made in heaven.

Speaking about partnering with Westwood, Tisci has this to say: “Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something. She is a rebel, a punk and unrivalled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together.”

The collection is set to debut in December 2018.
