Fendi launch 2019 re-edition of the celebrated purple Baguette Bag

ADDING a contemporary twist to an iconic, staple piece, Fendi have launched a re-edition of the famous purple sequin Baguette bag. Originally launched as part of the Fendi Fall/Winter 1999-‘00 collection, the bag and design itself contributed to the rise of the Baguette. Due to its association with Sarah Jessica Parker and her character in Sex and The City, the bag became a staple piece for New York fashion in the 2000s and a renowned item from Fendi, pushing it forward to today as an established classic.

Introducing modifications for the re-edition, the bag is now presented in a darker purple shade, embellished with the classic purple metallic sequins, each one varying in shape and size, offering a 3D effect to the bag, adorned with the signature FF logo buckle.

Completing the design, the same complimenting gold hardware as featured on the previous edition. Further adapting the Baguette bag to a contemporary urban lifestyle, the design now features a cross body option in the form of a detachable shoulder strap in the same deep purple leather as the handle.

From today the bag can be pre-ordered exclusively through the Fendi website. The Baguette can also be purchased in Fendi boutiques, worldwide, starting from mid-July 2019.

Originally designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi in 1997, the Baguette bag contrasted against the trends of minimalism which played a dominant role in the nineties fashion trends. Due to the opposing nature of the design, the Baguette bag become a cult must have accessory. With the design and legacy of the bag continuing to evolve, the Baguette bag remains a timeless staple, with the new Fendi re-edition holding the values of sophistication, elegance and limitless craftsmanship that are rooted in the identity of Fendi.
