Dior unveils Peter Philips’ make-up looks for the AW23 show

THE Dior Autumn-Winter 2023-2024 Ready-to-Wear Collection was a celebration of powerful femininity, with Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, creating a bold and edgy look to complement the collection.

Philips explained that he chose to focus on the eyes “working on a slightly unpolished, harsh smoky eye. As the focal point of this look, eyes were encircled in black to accentuate them and create a contrast with a pure and fresh complexion.”

To create the eye look, Philips used the 5 Couleurs Couture 079 Black Bow palette and Diorshow 24H Stylo 091 Matte Black, applying the shadow strongly underneath the lower lashes and more lightly to the upper lash line.

He repeated the dark shadow to the inner and outer corners of the eyelids to frame the eyes, and emphasise the smoky eye effect. The eyebrows were structured using the Diorshow Brow Styler and Diorshow On Set Brow.

For the complexion, with Dior Capture Totale Le Serum, Dior Forever Glow Veil, and Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation, Philips gave her skin a dewy, natural finish. Dior Skin Mattifying Papers, available in a limited edition, were used to remove shine, while Dior Forever Skin Correct was used for touch-ups.

The lips were kept natural with Rouge Dior Satin Balm 000 Diornatural, while the nails were painted in Dior Vernis 108 Muguet. Models had low, silky ponytails or chignons at the nape of their necks to convey an appearance of strict discipline. A leading British milliner Stephen Jones also created the headbands and caps that were worn by some of the models.

Overall, the look was a bold departure from traditional makeup looks showcasing the creativity and innovation of the Dior brand.
