Chanel’s Paris Haute Couture AW18 show beauty look covered

FOR this haute couture season, Karl Lagerfeld drew on Paris’ long-standing affair with literature. In an evocation of the city’s enduring literary history, the vast and lofty Grand Palais was transformed into a bustling quayside walk along the Seine, complete with its own replicas of book-seller’s boxes and the Institut de France. Beautiful was the setting, and so was the make-up.

For the beauty look, drama met with the everyday. The models were given a glittery and bold smoky eye, which was coupled with natural feathered brows and a neutral lip. Hair, overseen by the illustrious Sam McKnight, was tousled at the front while slicked back at the sides into a simple ponytail.

Since make up is but paint for which our skin is the canvas, priming the skin is key. Models’ skin was first prepped with Hydra Beauty Micro Gel Yeux, Hydra Beauty Micro Serum and La Solution 10 de Chanel.

To amp up the skin’s natural glowiness, Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation with SPF25 was applied. As for the cheeks, the 3-in-1 Palette Essentielle, which consists of a concealer, highlighter and a contour shade, was used – essential indeed. In line with the au naturale look of the skin, lips were swiped with the shade Discrétion from the Fall/Winter Collection while nails were painted using the shade Ballerina. Of course, the eyes stole the show.

Get the look with Les 4 Ombres eye palette in Splendour et Audace, and the Ombre Premiere cream eyeshadow in shades High Profile and Titane. Don’t forget waterproof eyeliner (Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Mare-Chiaro) and mascara (Le Volume Révolution de Chanel in Noir) for that final touch.
