An intimate gig at East London’s Oslo this week saw TV on the Radio perform an energetic set that took in the best from the band’s previous four albums as well as new material from forthcoming album Seeds. Adept as the band are when it comes to skirting genres, when led by a frontman as charismatic as Tunde Adebimpe their blend of clattering riffs, spitting wordplay, punk-infused dance and contemplative electronica hang together beautifully. Scattered among crowdpleasers that included Wolf Like Me and DLZ was a pleasing selection from their new album Seeds. Segueing from the playful (Happy Idiot) to the reflective (new track Winter) via standout new single Careful You – all driven fuzzy bass and melancholic refrain – the band’s future looks more than assured.
