The Horrors Drop New Track, Machine

IT’S been three years since we heard from the Southend-on-Sea band, The Horrors. Formed in 2005, the English psych-rock band have released four studio albums the latest one being the critically acclaimed, Luminous in 2014. The self-produced album was characterised as being danceable, fun and lively. However, throughout the album-recording-hiatus years, they performed at festivals in the UK and joining Depeche Mode on tour.

The Horrors

“You taste like a ghost, a cold simulation,” they sing on the new single, Machine. Unlike their previous album and singles, Machine takes the listener on what feels like an acid trip. It’s obvious that The Horrors are back and they’re back with vengeance. After the opening of this  brooding song, it taps into the band’s familiar garage rock/punk style while venturing into something dark and enigmatic. The cold yet oddly romantic bass fits perfectly with the incisive lyrics.

Produced by Paul Epworth, who has worked with FKA Twigs and London Grammar, at The Church Studios. If the album is anything like Machine then The Horrors will take the crowd on a memorable, emotional trip. The band will be playing at the Omeara on July 11, London.
