Spanning the decades with Lucie Campbell

At the intersection of delicately traditional and boldly contemporary lies fine jeweller Lucie Campbell. One of the last remaining family-owned jewellery boutiques on Bond Street, the design team today combines their founder’s love for Victorian and 20th century jewels with thoroughly modern craftsmanship to create fantastical, and truly unique pieces.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Lucie Campbell, which began in the 1960s as a one-woman antique jewellery business. Today, Lucie’s sons, Richard and Robert, are at the helm of the business, committed to continuing their mother’s love for period designs, and infusing them with a modern desirability.

Fusing the traditional with the current, the duo are undoubtedly in-tune with the wider fashion zeitgeist. When asked where they find inspiration for such unique pieces, Richard’s explains, “Inspiration is in the industry’s ability to constantly renew, shock, surprise and wow the wider design industry. I’m consistently inspired by artisans and craftspeople, as well as design graduates who push boundaries to create truly one-of-a-kind designs and keep the industry’s big names on their toes.”

Whilst the duo are certainly no slaves to the fickle trends of design, Richard is continually aware of the industry’s overriding trends. For this season, he tells us, fringing is enjoying a substantial resurgence. Long, Deco-inspired pendants and cascading diamond-set earrings are hugely popular right now.

As for his favourite piece? A striking pink tourmaline cocktail ring, edged with white pave diamonds and set in 18ct gold. And honestly, we, too, are enamoured.
